How do we best reach our clients? How do we best draw them into what we do? Without further ado, read below! _____________________________ 2 Ways to Create Ads worth Engaging – by Tofurious I recently discovered Mad Men – an American television series that takes place in the 1960s about an advertisement agency. It’s quite fascinating. A lot of the marketing approaches parallel that of today’s, except for one thing – today’s technology is more advanced, thus allowing for social engagement.     Before we vilify the concept of advertisements, please understand that they do work in keeping top of mind awareness. Otherwise, the entire industry would have collapsed already. Last time I checked, TV commercials, radio sponsors and full-page magazine ads are still prevalent. In the past,... Read More

Starbucks Trip Adventures | London, Part I

We just wanted to take a moment from our travels in London to say hi! As we are writing this, we are riding the tube back to our hotel. We landed here Monday morning (UK time) and on Tuesday we spoke to ShutterRockers led by the amazing Jaz Ampar-Farr. Mike Larson along with identity specialist, Melissa Love also spoke and it was really cool to hear both of them share. It was such a great evening of seeing familiar faces from when we were here in January at the photographer’s conference SWPP and meeting new faces! We are in the middle of our two days off and are resting (still a little jet-lagged) and doing some sight-seeing and then we have 3 days of our workshops this weekend! Stay tuned for more updates from over... Read More

IN-CAMERA: Light San Diego Photography Workshops Re-Cap!

Last Wednesday we just got back from San Diego and had an amazing time hanging out with new friends and shooting it up in the city! We were hosted by the amazing Jared Bauman at his awesome studio and even though it was the only day of rain in the last year out in CA, we had a break in the sky and got some beautiful light to shoot in! Check out the images below and check out our awesome model for the day’s website, fellow photographer and good friend, Keary Dee!   We started the day off talking through our system for shooting super fast lit shots on-location in any lighting conditions, then headed out to shoot! Here you can see the set-up for the first shot and the light we were dealing with. We headed under this little mini tunnel in the parking lot because we knew we could get directional light as the light was forced inside of it. We used that light as a back-light, then added our one off-camera flash to the front. Thanks a load to the amazing Cory and Jackie of ADA Photography for most of the behind the scenes images!! These are some of my (Zach’s) favorite images from the shoot! The shot on the right was actually a candid image that Keary was not ready for, and I love the in-between moment expression she has. We had some really nice diffused sunlight coming in from camera left that added that nice warm rim-light glow and gave us some real depth to the shot. The trick with having a kicker or... Read More

Starbucks Trip Reflections: Photography Fun in San Diego, CA!

We just got back last night from spending a few days in San Diego and we had SUCH a great time! Here are a few pics taken with our phones to give you a glimpse into the fun we had :) We flew in Friday and here was our home-away-from-home for 5 days. On Friday the one-and-only Becker took us out for a rainy shoot! This is the before… And the after shots… :) On Sunday we held our IN-CAMERA: Light workshop!   Then Monday-Wednesday we attended the photographer conference, PartnerCon! Attended Lawrence Chan’s (marketing guru, talk and it was KILLER! So much good stuff. That alone would have been worth attending the conference. We grabbed coffee afterwards with Lawrence… I, Jody, was a part of one of the panels that PartnerCon was experiencing with this year. We had great discussions and it was an honor and a blast to be sharing the panel with a great variety of speakers: (L to R) Samuel Lippke (Samuel Lippke Studios), Kevin Swan (of Swan Luxery, KISSbooks & SWATdesigner), Ed Monahan (Kodak), Michael Giordando (LifelongStudios) – super talented photographers and businessmen. Us with dear friend Jeff Youngren (we like him even though he flies Delta ;) and new bud, Samuel. The one-and-only Regis Chen came into town to hang with us! It was a quick visit, but so awesome all the same :) Then Wednesday morning before we headed back home, we attempted to find a good San Diego coffee shop… wasn’t that awesome but it was fun regardless with buds, Cory & Jackie. And we leave you with our final... Read More

Amaze your Clients with the Click of a Button!

Welcome to the latest installment of our Tuesday Tips & Tricks! Today we are going to share a cool tool to have your clients talking about you AND we have a promo code for the tool to share!!! Have you been looking for something awesome to do for your clients that will take their experience with you up a notch and then get them sharing about your awesomeness all the more? We have a fellow friend and Colorado Wedding & Portrait photographer, Stacey Kyler who shoots weddings and this week we want to share with you something that Stacey did that got a huge response RIGHT AFTER THE WEDDING by using a simple tool called Animoto!! Meet Stacey! Read Stacey’s Story: This wedding was one of those that you dream of as a photographer…sweet, honest and genuine love between the bride and groom, a rockin’ bridal party that was a blast to work with, and beautiful Colorado mountain views. I wanted to put together something immediately after the wedding that not only showed the images, but also relayed the emotion of the day. Animoto is an amazing tool that allowed me to do both. My goal was to create a video that helped wedding guests to re-live the day and other friends and family who were not in attendance to feel as though they were. The response that I have received from the bridal party, family members and friends has been overwhelmingly positive. They love how the music (first dance song), the bride and groom video clips and the images tell the story of the emotion and overall experience... Read More
