Ahhhh! We were so pumped to have our first family photo session taken of Jaxon two months ago by Amy and Jordan Photography and yes, it has taken us this long to decide on final prints and get them ordered. :)
We are excited to share with you Part One of how we have decorated our walls with this photo session.
We have a front room in our new home that was slated to be the formal dining room, but since we never used our formal dining room in our old place, we decided to use it for something else. It is currently serving as a sitting room of sorts, which we actually have utilized quite a bit!
I (Jody) knew I wanted a bigger canvas to fill in the space and I have always loved the idea of grouping canvases or wanting a split panel here (when one canvas is split into two canvases). As we went through our favorites from the shoot (which were WAY to many ha ha) I started to put together an idea of what I was wanting for the front room! To make sure I was REALLY comfortable with the sizes I was thinking, I went old-school and taped up the area the canvases would hang. (Yes, I know there are programs for this, but sometimes I just like getting my hands dirty ;o).
I first chose one of our top favorites from the shoot:
And then I chose the below photo to compliment it!
This image pairs well with the previous shot of us because whereas the first image is closely cropped on us, this one is pulled back with extra “dead space” and there’s not too much going on between the two canvases for the eye to be looking at. I also LOVED Jaxon’s smile here, but knew if we ever got it printed as a smaller print, you wouldn’t be able to see it well. So I knew by having it as a 40×26, you definitely would :)
I then placed our order with our favorite professional photo lab, Bay Photo, and anxiously awaited for the canvases to arrive! The turnaround was stinkin’ fast and good thing, because I was SOOOOOO excited to see our images printed and have them on our walls!!
Not even ONE week later they arrived!!
Below: Unwrapping the canvas!! Jaxon isnt quite sure what to think of a giant replica of him…
Below: Jaxon decides a large min-me isn’t so bad after all and he kind of likes the idea.
After doing final measurements and making sure I nailed the holes in the correct places, the canvases were hung!!!
It’s so fun to have these images displayed – especially as a focal point when people first come in our front door. Family is so precious to us and we cannot thank Amy and Jordan enough for capturing these special images and to Bay Photo for producing such great quality products that will stand the test of time.
(Thanks to our nanny, Makinze who snapped the above image for us!)
Stay tuned for the reveal of the photo collage we placed upstairs!!
